General Announcements / Tapatalk Now Supported
« on: February 12, 2013, 08:22:37 PM »
For those of you who would like to browse the forum, etc., on your iOS or Android device, $7 Secrets Forum now supports Tapatalk:

Quote
Tapatalk is a mobile app built specifically for forum access. Different from mobile skin or mobile version that [may come with a] forum system, Tapatalk allows user to have a unified interface to access multiple forums at the same time.

I'm finding it handy to monitor the forum while on the go. Tapatalk supports push notifications (hmm...not Tapatalk HD for iPad), so if you'd like to be notified of replies to topics you've posted to you should enable push notifications in the app and choose the types of notifications -- quoted post, mentioned post, subscribed topic, and private message -- you've like to receive. On the forum side, all you need to do then is enable Notify me of replies (under Attachments and other options) when you post. Your settings at Profile > Notifications mostly don't affect push notifications:
  • Enable Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic if you want  email or push notifications enabled by default when you post via the web. This setting doesn't affect posts created in the Tapatalk app itself and you can't set the notification option when posting in Tapatalk, so you'll need to favorite/star the post after you've created it.
  • The For topics and boards I've requested notification on, notify me setting only applies to email notifications.
  • The For topics and boards I've requested notification on, notify me of setting only applies to email notifications.
  • Push notifications presently work only for Current Topic Notifications, not Current Board Notifications.
Mentioned posts are interesting: use @username (a user's username can be found on their profile page and may be different from what's displayed in the forum) anywhere in a post and if that user has enabled mentioned posts they will get a push notification.

Any questions about Tapatalk? Feel free to reply here.

General Announcements / Forum Upgrade (SMF 2.0)
« on: October 27, 2011, 10:02:10 PM »
Well, more than a year after the last upgrade, SMF 2.0 has finally been released and I can upgrade $7 Secrets Forum. Although it was released on June 11, I wanted to wait for a 2.0.1 release at least, which happened on September 18. This release should be pretty solid, but let me know if you run into anything funky here.

I need to make some changes to the default theme, so be prepared for some visual updates.
