I'm going to cover a lot so please bere w/ me...
1. Did you login to your PayPal account by typing the URL? If not, do it. If it's limited, it will say so inside the account.
2. Johns site is still taking payments. If they use him as an example, which I can't see them doing for legal reasons, then his account should also be limited.
3. If it's because of the MLM/Get Rich clause, then are you sure that you are selling a PRODUCT and NOT an opportunity? In your sales letter, how much are you mentioning the the opportunity? In mine, I do it as a PS and I am very vague. I don't mention 100% commission anywhere.
4. I was limited for the MLM/Get Rich because I was selling resell rights. After talking to PayPal They removed the limit and approved me doing it. I had to fight with them though.
Here is what I did: A: Emailed and received "decision is final" reply - twice B: Called them and as each person got on the phone, I simply said, "put your supervisor on the phone" and nothing else. Then after a few people, I finally asked for "account escaletions". When this person was on the phone, I started by saying, "I am trying to get this resolved before I get my attorney involved. I then told about the products and pointed out EACH classification PayPal uses to determine MLM/Get Rich. And said my products do not fall in any of these categories. He said it was "iffy" and I replied for it to be a "Get Rich Quick" the product must focus on the opportunity and not have a real value - according to PayPal guidelines and I then pointed out for them to determine if my products had no value, they would need to actually look at them which they didn't. This person then looked at my acocunt history said I only had a few complaints and I delt w/ all of them in 24 hours. He told me to email aup one final time repeating what I told him. I did (including the attorney bit) and a few hours later, I received an email from PayPal saying my site was "OK" and that they closed it by mistake.
JFYI: If you are running a closed affiliate program, you are more than likely breaking the law if you advertise it as a benefit. (I forget the name of the law but you can Google it.)
Lastely, my suggestion is to not even mention the opportunity and to not build-up $$$ at any point.
